The bust of Skenderbeu is damaged in Geneva/Albanian community in Switzerland: Repeated event

The bust of our national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu, which is located by the lake, in Geneva, Switzerland, was damaged yesterday evening, by persons not yet identified.

Concerned by this recurring event, the Albanian community in Switzerland has requested clarification of the event.

According to Le Canton27.ch, after reporting to the police, the Swiss authorities have launched an investigation into the case of vandalism.

The bust of the national hero of Albania was inaugurated in Geneva on November 1, 1997 by prominent activists Astrit Leka and Zaim Jashari.

It was made possible by Switzerland as a sign of thanks and respect to the Albanian nation and community in Swiss territory, whose number is believed to be over 300,000.

The inauguration of the bust of « Skenderbeu » was attended by hundreds of people, among them many activists of the national issue from the Albanian community and many personalities from Tirana and Pristina as well as cantonal and Swiss authorities.
