The UN in New York denies the news of Adriatik Kelmendi, journalist of Klan Kosova

Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General

New York, UN, June 3 – Following a suspicious news report that « The UN Coordinator in Kosovo requests that official contacts not be maintained with the Kurti Government » issued by Adriatik Kelmendi, a journalist for Klan Kosova, the UN offices, in turn, through the Swiss Albanian-language newspaper LeCanton27.ch, have denied it as fake news from the Kosovo media.

The United Nations in Kosovo has reacted to the Klan Kosova reporting that « The Coordinator of this team has requested that official contacts not be maintained with the Kurti Government. » is stated in today’s response from the UN Chief’s office, addressed to our editorial team, which among other things states:

Dear colleagues from the editorial team of LeCanton27.ch

We have received your question from the spokesperson of the Secretary-General in New York. Thank you very much for contacting us. Please see the response below:

«We are aware of the recent media reports. The UN official position is clear: it is up to the people of Kosovo to choose their government. The UN will continue to work with authorities and institutions prioritizing the well-being of the people in Kosovo.. », quotes Swiss newspaper LeCanton27.ch

So, the UN is present in Kosovo through several of its agencies and mechanisms, which support different sectors, such as: Economic Development, Health, Education; human rights and democratic governance.

Of course, this is not the first news that the Kosovar media, especially TV, publish disinformation and other fake news, which the international community is then obliged to deny as Fake News. We expect a reaction from the AGK for the misuse of the UN by some Kosovar media, wrote the Albanian-language newspaper LeCanton27.ch at the end
